Sean Hayes Talks About the Struggles of Being a Caregiver: “It Was One of the Hardest Things I’ve Ever Done”
LOS ANGELES - JUN 09: Sean Hayes arrives for the "Will & Grace" FYC Event on June 9, 2018 in Hollywood, CA

Sean Hayes is speaking out about a topic close to his heart: caregiving for his mother during her battle with Alzheimer’s disease, and how it affected his own well-being.

“Being a caregiver is one of the hardest things I’ve ever done,” the Will & Grace star explained. “But my mom always taught me, when someone needs your help, you show up.”

Seth Rogen and his wife Lauren Miller have also spoken out in past years about caring for Miller’s mother, who also suffers from Alzheimer’s.

“I think until you see it firsthand, it’s kind of hard to conceive of how brutal it is,” the actor said of the disease that affects memory loss. “Until I saw it, you just don’t get kind of how heartbreaking it can be.”
